A bug thank you to Bryony Supper for sending me a copy of this children’s book in return for a review.  A big apology for taking so long to get my review done and posted.

Synopsis

Sarah Spaghetti and Marc Macaroni invent the Pastaball! Sarah learns that it is wise to be patient. Wait until you see what happens inside the Inventing Tubes!

My Thoughts

Marc Macaroni uses inventing tubes that create a pastaball to play with but….. the machine needs patience and the instructions to work properly.  Impatient Sarah Spaghetti ignores the warnings and decides to make her own pastaball and things don’t quite go to plan.  Can her friends help her?

This is such a cute book that is very entertaining to read and also teaches some valuable lessons to children.  The Pasta Kidz and Pets speak mainly in English and occasionally use their own language.  There’s a lot of fun to be had interpreting this using the glossary in the back of the book.  The story in entertaining and also covers several issues.  It can be used to look at helping our friends and also forgiving our friends when they don’t make the best choices.  Another theme is that of patience and how sometimes it’s worth waiting for something if you want it to turn out right.

The illustrations are so bright and colourful and really add another dimension to the story and bring the characters to life.

As a teacher I would use this book in school to look at friendships and the art of patience from a social perspective.  As a stimulus for writing I would also use it to encourage children to create and write about their own inventions, or create their own food based family.
