What Eden Did Next by Sheila O’ Flanagan – Blog Tour

Thanks to Ann Cater and Random Things Tours for organising this blog tour and to Sheila O’ Flanagan and Headline for a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

The heart-breaking, life-affirming and unforgettable new novel from the author of number
one bestsellers including The Women Who Ran Away and The Missing Wife.

Eden’s ready for a new start, putting the past behind her. But others have their own ideas of
what’s best for her…
Five years after the death of her firefighter husband, Eden knows better than anyone that life
can change in an instant. Now, instead of the future she had planned with Andy, she has Lila –
the daughter he never got the chance to meet. And instead of Andy, she has his family.
Then Eden meets someone. Someone she knew before Andy, before Lila, before the tragedy.
Someone who reminds her of how she used to be. But Andy’s mother has other plans. And
Eden is facing an impossible choice. One that could tear a family apart.
Honest and emotionally gripping, What Eden Did Next is a heart-warming, sometimes heart-breaking, yet ultimately joyful novel of love, loss – and finding your own way to happiness.

My Thoughts

Sheila O’ Flanagan’s writing is just beautiful and addictive.  It draws you in and despite the emotive content of her books, it wraps you up in a big cosy blanket and makes sure you emerge happy.

Eden is such a tenderly crafted character and it doesn’t take long to fall in love with her and want to support her though everything.  She has been through tragedy and very difficult times but has such a resilient and determined mindset.

The journey that Eden is on is absorbing and this is the sort of book that you won’t be able to put down until you’ve finished.  The plot covers romance after the death of a partner, guilt, grief, familial relationships and learning to invest in yourself.  It’s a beautiful and emotive story told in such an engaging way.

What Eden Did Next is an absolute delight to read, offering many though provoking and reflective questions but is also uplifting at the same time.

Definitely pick up a copy of this for the beach, plane, garden or sofa.  You won’t regret it.
