Alfie snuggles down in bed,
dreams still in his little head.
He dreams he’s a king going out for a ride.
“A dragon sleeps in front of the gate,” they cried.
How will they succeed in waking him up?
By helping each other and lots of luck.
Alfie’s mum really needs him to wake up but Alfie is determined to stay asleep and finish his dream. Can Alfie remove the dragon from the gate before mum wakes him once and for all?
A delightful story of Alfie and his race to complete his quest before his eyes open. The rhyming prose will delight and engage younger children and I can just imagine their enthusiasm as they join in with the rhyming couplets – guessing what work may be next.
The story is just so entertaining and and will have any child leaping about in delight. I wouldn’t recommend it at bedtime as it had my little one leaping about all over and a tad excitable. In the current climate where physical exercise may be limited, this provides the perfect ‘get up and move’ story or one to take to the woods or an open space.
The illustrations are delightful and really bring Alfie’s story to life.
As a teacher I adore this idea and would certainly use it as stimulus to write our own dream stories. Such a versatile book.
Perfect for keeping the little ones entertained and active.
