The serial killer is behind bars. But the murders are just beginning…

DC Maggie Jamieson’s past comes back to haunt her in this dark and gripping serial killer thriller.

Three missing women running out of time…

They were abducted years ago. Notorious serial killer Bill Raven admitted to killing them and was sentenced to life.

The case was closed – at least DC Maggie Jamieson thought it was…

But now one of them has been found, dismembered and dumped in a bin bag in town.

Forensics reveal that she died just two days ago, when Raven was behind bars, so Maggie has a second killer to find.

Because even if the other missing women are still alive, one thing’s for certain: they don’t have long left to live…

My Thoughts

Well, after totally loving the first DI Maggie Jamieson novel, Dead Inside, (Check out my review here) there was no way I was turning down the chance to join the tour for Dead Wrong.

Warning!  Do not begin this book if you have somewhere to be within a few hours.  Seriously!  Once you start it will take over your life.

Years ago Bill Raven was convicted and sentenced for the murders of several women.  So why are their body parts suddenly appearing?  Was he wrongly accused or is there something more sinister at play? DI Maggie Jamieson is in a race against time to solve the crime before more bodies turn up.

The plot is fast paced and addictive.  It keeps you holding your breath until the very end.  The planning and details are flawless and you gain a real sense that Noelle has researched and planned to perfection.

The character of Maggie is extremely well developed.  We see her as a brilliant and highly pressured detective, dealing with the fact that she may have gotten something so very wrong two years ago but also as a woman.  A woman with a love interest, family and friends and her own struggles outside of work.  She’s such a three dimensional and ‘real’ character with elements that most of us can relate to.

For me, people scare me more than things that go bump.  When a character comes along that is so real and so unimaginably manipulative and wrong then I love it (Don’t judge).  It mustn’t be easy to write such depraved characters and delve into the parts of the human psyche we like to think are only in films but Halton does this and makes it so real it’s terrifying.

My advice, grab this book and hide under the covers with it.  You won’t be sorry.  See you on the other side!

      • I’m really looking forward to reading them. Thank you for introducing me to these books. Have you read Patricia Gibney’s series? They also have a strong female lead detective. Also MJ Arlidge’s books are great. I’ve literally got my nose pressed to the Amazon website waiting for the latest updates in both series.
