I was completely in love with Sam’s story in One Summer in Little Penhaven (check out my review here) so imagine my excitement when the opportunity to read Christmas in Little Penhaven arrived in my email inbox. It is part of a series set in the same location but you don’t need to read One Summer first to enjoy Christmas in Little Penhaven.
Needing a quiet place to stay for a while, Hal Muir decides to stay in Penhaven close to his cousin Sam. There he meets Jane who is battling with her own issues and despite being not being in the mood, Hal cannot help but get caught up in the festivities and comes to the realisation that to move forward with his own life, he needs to confront his own issues. Jane finds herself falling in love with Hal, despite knowing he is only staying in Penhaven temporarily.
Returning to Little Penhaven was like visiting family in a familiar town. It felt like I had never been away. I’ve said this before but Angela Britnell creates real characters and you can see that they are created from the heart. Both Jane and Hal are such adorable people and from early in the novel I just became so invested in them. Both characters have a very well crafted backstory that gives them additional depth and really brings them to life.
Penhaven is as captivating and beautiful as ever with the little added magic of Christmas to really make you feel at home.
Snuggle down, grab a hot drink and relax into this cosy and sweet festive novella.
