About the company
Shibui Tea was set up over a few pots of tea with the simple philosophy of sourcing and sharing great quality tea. We have created a menu which covers a wide range of loose leaf tea with flavours to suit all palates. With a choice of premium classics through to fun and modern concepts, Shibui’s tea drinkers can be assured of a consistent quality product they can trust.
We are a family run business – together with over 35 years of experience in the industry – with our head office split between the UK and Canada. Two brothers run the operation – John in the UK and Paul in Canada.
Our teas are sourced from all over the world, primarily from China, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Africa, and Taiwan. Our locations in both the UK and Canada give us the ability to effectively service both the European and North American market places.
By visiting Shibui Tea online, you can browse and choose from over 200 teas and be assured of our excellent customer service.
What does Shibui mean?
Shibui is a Japanese word which has no direct translation into English. It is a way of describing something which appears simple but has actually an underlying complex nature. We feel that this sums up our perception of tea perfectly. Tea is just tea, surely? Ah – but look into it in a bit more detail and it’s a lot more complicated than that!
What’s on Offer?
Shibui offer a plethora of tea in different presentations and an abundance of flavours. Additionally, they are currently using biodegradable packaging and bags for the pyramids and are moving towards a completely plastic free ethic so buying tea here also means you are helping the environment.
You can also purchase filters, teapots and mugs too.
If you love a good loose tea then check out the flavours here.
Pyramid tea bags are a great choice if you like the quick and simple option. The packaging and the actual bag are both biodegradable too. You can check out the tea bags here.
Who doesn’t love a good cup of tea in some form or another? Me too, so when I spotted a Tweet from Shibui asking for people to sample their teas, I jumped at the chance.
The package arrived and I was greeted with beautifully aromatic bags of fresh tea in a sample of flavours and I knew I was in for an experience beyond a simple cuppa.
The English Breakfast and Earl Grey teas were just lovely. Full of flavour and they smell filled the whole room. There was no strange aftertaste that sometimes appears with some brands and it really was a fantastic cup of tea.
For people with a sweet tooth or looking to fill a craving with something healthy, I highly recommend the gingerbread, and chocolate and ginger. Both full of flavour and sweet to taste.
My favourite flavours were definitely the festive mulled spice which was really comforting and warming and the rooibos and orange which has a slight spice to it, making it not as sweet as some flavours.
These teas are so lovely, they’d make a perfect treat or gift for a tea lover. There are so many flavours to choose from so you’ll never get bored. I know I’ll be trying some more.
